Take a poll of water distribution system managers across the country asking what part of their systems experience leaks or need repairs most often, and the likely response will be, “Service lines.” Why? Because large portions of their systems are 40 to 50 years old, and in many cases even older. Those older service lines commonly used tar coated black iron, galvanized pipe or 1st generation polyethylene tubing. The life expectancy of all these materials has long ago passed, leaving many systems with an often unrecognized potential for increased frequency of service line leaks and repairs.

Our experienced technicians can install a new service line, with or without a casing, and switch over the existing meter connection. If necessary, they can also make a new tap and cap off the old one -- and do the entire job with little “down time” to the customer.

- Obtain the necessary locates
- Excavate to affected areas
- Install to the Utility’s specification, either “long side” (including casing) or “short side” service
- Make a new service tap (if deemed necessary by Utility)
- Connect to either existing or new corporation valve
- Purge service line
- Isolate customers connection
- Connect to existing curb valve at meter
- Purge customer’s service line
- Reinstate service to customer
- Remove/encapsulate or cap old service tap (if new tap was made)
- Cap off and abandon old service line
- Restore affected areas to pre-excavation condition
